Women's Race Series round 1 results

Wed, 07 May 2025, 20:59

Round 1 of the Guernsey Velo Club Women’s Race Series sponsored by Cobo Team Room took place at the weekend. The short 2.08 mile course at Perelle provided a good challenge for the field of 9 riders in chilly but dry conditions.

Jade Packham made a winning return to club racing, setting the pace throughout the race and confidently holding off challenges from Emily Squire, Esther Reid and eventual second place finisher Hannah Kennedy. “It was a special experience to be in an all female road event; the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly whilst remaining competitive. I had a great battle with Hannah for the last half of the race, it was also great to see new faces too. Every rider gave their best, this series is all about encouraging one another”.

Club regular Esther Reid after finishing third said “Once I lost touch with the leaders I focused on pushing as hard as I could to bring them back to me or at the very least secure third place”.

Rebecca Whitmore said after the race "I had so much fun, really really enjoyed it and great that it was a womens only event, what a great introduction to racing".

Jane Pearson said “Thanks so much for today’s race organisation. I really enjoyed the experience. Marshals did a fabulous job and really nice support from everyone around."

Full results are at gvc.gg.

The series continues on Monday 26 May at the same venue, any riders interested in taking part are encouraged to sign up for the next race or contact the club for further details via gvc.gg.
